STAX SRM-D50

-

For a company that has just celebrated its 80th anniversary, Stax has taken on a whole new life. Suddenly the brand has been ‘rediscovered’ as other highend headphone companies come and go. There appears to be a race as to who can produce the most expensive ’phones on the market – whereas Stax have dropped in price (but not quality) over the last decade. Yet the brand still stands above the rest.

Stax headphones (or ‘Earspeakers’ as Stax prefers to call them) are electrostatic, requiring a separate amplifier or driver. The new SRM-D50 (above) is a high-performance driver, with the addition of a high-quality DAC. It supports various inputs, including USB, Optical, Coax and analogue RCA. The SRM-D50 is compatible with all current Stax Earspeakers.

The SRM-D50 with a pair of Earspeakers, particularly one of their top models, is a delight – drop in and have a listen. While you are here also check out the new SRM-D10 portable electrostatic headphone DAC/amp. You can now take your Stax Earspeakers with you! $1999
