The Digital Picture

-

This second entry from The Digital Picture is in the same category, but with quite a different brief. The client wanted a cinema room that would deliver high impact movies when you’re in the front row, while the back row was to be available for general TV and sports viewing, but also be a relaxation zone for reading a book or playing cards and chess.

To achieve this it was agreed that the rear row should sit considerably higher than the front row, and be left more open, with only two seats and a flexible arrangement able to be moved around to suit the activity.

With 4K Netflix and sports as the main viewing, a large 16:9 screen was again selected, while the sound system uses Pro Audio active speakers supplemented by Triad in-ceiling speakers for the height channels, and a custom pair of Triad Gold on-wall subwoofers with 15-inch woofers, because other than two ventilated pull-out racks (right), the client wanted underscreen cabinet space kept for storage.

There’s full Control4 control and lighting automation, extended from the greater whole-home automation installation.

The raised rear section has proven a great success as a relaxation zone, while still allowing a stadium-tiered view of the big-screen entertainment.
