The Digital Picture
This reference-class Queensland home cinema combines comfort with top technology.
The Digital Picture, installer of this CEDIA award-winning Queensland home cinema with 158-inch screen, tells us that its lucky owner uses the space to watch a lot of sport, mainly US basketball and football.
“This cinema has a Cinemascope screen and a Lumagen processor, so he watches mostly in the NLS mode,” MD Scott Sauer tells us.
NLS is ‘non linear stretch’, a neat mode in Lumagen’s range of processors (below) which intelligently varies the aspect ratio across the image, allowing a full-screen image without either excessive cropping or squeezing of the main action at the centre of the screen. As the CEDIA award indicates, this entire home cinema is reference class, with 9.1.4 immersive sound using a Trinnov Altitude 16-channel processor and Pro Audio Technology digital active speakers and subwoofers, while a 6000-lumen BenQ LK990 4K projector fills the Severtson 158″ screen with HDR processing performed by that Lumagen 4K processor. When not watching sport, movies can be served from Panasonic Blu-ray, AppleTV, or a Kaleidescape 4K Strato-S movie server.
