Paradigm Founders

-

Canada’s Paradigm has introduced a new ‘Founder’ series of loudspeakers, with a six-model range beginning at $3899 a pair the Founder 40B standmount/ bookshelf model (pictured left) and rising to $13,999 a pair for the flagship The Founder Series flagship 120H floorstanders (below).

The Founder Series is the first completely new speaker line to be introduced since Paradigm’s original founder Scott Bagby reacquired the company in 2019 (along with Anthem and MartinLogan) after 14 years where the controlling influence was from Shoreview Industries, a private equity firm from Minneapolis. The original company had been founded by Scott in 1982, with co-founder Jerry VanderMarel, who together tapped Canada’s rich seam of university audio researchers and the scientific findings from studies conducted at the famed National Research Council.

The new range, which is “designed, tested, engineered, and manufactured in Toronto”, includes the company’s latest drivers — the AL-MAC tweeter combining aluminium, magnesium, and ceramic, along with a special Oblate Spherical Waveguide; an ALMAG aluminium/magnesium alloy midrange driver with Perforated Phase Alignment lens; and new ultra-stiff, ultra-strong bass drivers called ‘CARBON-X’, made from mineral-infused carbon fibre, and utilising Paradigm’s patented over-moulded Active Ridge Technology surround.

The range includes all you need for surround as well as two-channel systems, with two centre speaker options, the Founder 70LCR ($2899) and Founder 90C ($4499), as well as two smaller fllorstander models below the flasgship being the Founder 80F ($6499 a pair) and Founder 100F ($8999 a pair).

The 115cm-high flagship 120H speakers are semi-active, with their own 1000W of internal amplification for their triple eight-inch CARBON-X bass drivers, which also allowed its engineers also to incorporate Paradigm’s ARC Genesis room correction system in this model.
