SPENDOR loudspeakers distribution in Australia has moved to Indi Imports, which will carry all three ranges — the D series, A series and the Classic series, which rises right up to the $34,000 Classic 200 model.
US high-end home theatre and distributed audio brands PRO AUDIO TECHNOLOGY and THEORY AUDIO DESIGN have moved from Cogworks to Audio Active as of April
1st, where they join Audio Active’s high-end video solutions.
The biggest announcement of the month was undoubtedly the preliminary agreement for SOUND UNITED LLC to acquire Australian distributor QUALIFI. Sound United is the parent company of QualiFi brands Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio and HEOS, but also of Bowers & Wilkins and Classé, which have separate distribution under Bowers & Wilkins Australia, based in Sydney, while QualiFi is in Melbourne. While we gather the preliminary agreement has progressed to the status of “pretty much a done deal”, the final location/s have yet to be revealed, as have the final resting places for non-Sound United QualiFi CI brands such as Elan, SpeakerCraft and Xantech. All those to whom we have spoken emphasise that the reorganisation is likely to be invisible to consumers, who will continue to receive full support and warranty servicing. As ever, your first point of contact is the dealer who sold you the equipment.
