BenQ: sports specialism

While BenQ doesn’t have an ultra-short-throw consumer model in Australia (“yet”, it says), it continues to deliver impressive value on bench/ ceiling projectors both Full-HD resolution and using well-implemented DLP pixel-shifting for 4K delivery. Especially notable for sports is its 4K TK800M (see main image opposite), with its bright 3000 lumens output and dedicated modes for football and sports.

And in our 2021 Sound+Image Awards we recognised the delightful BenQ GS2 (above), a near-cubic projector which can run on batteries and Wi-Fi as a smart projector running on Android. While the resolution is only 1280 x 720 pixels, the versatility makes it a unique offering for temporary installations, holiday homes, even outdoor sports nights with the big match beamed onto the garage wall.
