REGA FLIES NEW KYTES
First demoed as part of a ‘Rega System One’ all-in-one vinyl solution, Rega has now released the $999 Rega Kytes separately, using the name of a classic Rega model. These two-way bookshelf speaker are built and designed in-house in the UK — even the cabinets are moulded there, using the phenolic resin the company so values for natural stiffness, incorporated into Rega’s turntables, and now its loudspeakers. Here it is further enhanced with ceramic plates and a cross brace structure in a “unique cabinet construction” that it says allows them to be made for a price around a third of other British-made quality loudspeakers. Inside the bass-reflex ported cabinets are Rega’s own ZRR tweeter and its handmade MX-125 bass/mid driver, incorporating a fourlayer voice coil. They’re pretty compact (32.5 x 18.8 x 23.2cm) and supplied with an optional foot for positioning flexibility. Price is $999 a pair.
