Denon AVR-X1700H brings 7 channels, 8K

-

Denon’s latest X-series receiver again offers a clear indication that the competitive receiver market keeps upping the ante on facilities at any given price. The price-tag of $1399 on the AVR-X1700H looks remarkable given everything on offer on this refresh of the X-Series entry-level. You get seven channels of power rated at 80W per channel into 8 ohms (20-20kHz, 0.08% THD, two channels driven), with processing for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and lesser codecs, and 8K compatibility via three 8K HDMI inputs accommodating 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz from suitably-capable devices and gaming consoles, along with VRR, ALLM, HDR10+ and eARC support.

In addition to six HDMI inputs, there are two analogue line-level inputs plus movingmagnet phono, two optical, two composite video inputs, two subwoofer outs and an FM tuner, though no DAB+ in this model. There’s also the HEOS streaming and multiroom platform which thereby loads this receiver with smarts, including streaming from the internet and from files over the local network.
