Cyrus Audio kit to gain BluOS

-

Cyrus Audio’s hi-fi devices are getting some new streaming skills. The British hi-fi brand has agreed a deal with Canada’s Lenbrook Group to equip some of its future devices with BluOS, the high-res multiroom streaming platform used by Bluesound products, as well as Lenbrook brand NAD.

Cyrus aims for the addition of BluOS to simplify the current streaming landscape for consumers, whether Cyrus customers or not.

“Music streaming remains complex with the wide variety and rapidly changing list of services and features that are demanded by the modern music consumer,” says Nick Clarke, who has recently taken over the position of Managing Director at Cyrus, coming from Harman International, where he was Senior Director of Global Engineering for the Luxury Audio business unit. “We realised that being part of a well-established and class-leading ecosystem provided the best option for both our customers and dealers to minimise this complexity.”

BluOS is one of the longest-developed and most reliable streaming platforms, and was high-res capable from the beginning, where some rivals had to revise their platforms for high-res after launching at only CD quality.

BluOS is also brand-agnostic, so that Cyrus’ new kit will (presumably) be able to interact in a multiroom environment with BluOS equipment from other manufacturers. These currently include Bluesound itself and NAD, Roksan, Monitor Audio and DALI. This list is perhaps not longer because the makers of BluOS make clear they don’t let just any old brand into BluOS.

“Our goal with BluOS continues to be being highly selective about the brands we add to the platform,” says Gordon Simmonds, CEO of Lenbrook International. “It is so important that the shared ecosystem model be represented by totally like-minded and committed partners.”
