BEST INTEGRATED HOME LEVEL III FINALIST ARGUS TECHNOLOGIES
Having engaged Argus Technologies six years earlier for their first home, these clients were keen to bring the automated lifestyle to their new suburban home. The brief was for full lighting control, AV distribution and security, combined with the latest features and upgrades the smart home industry has to offer.
On the lighting side, Argus collaborated closely with the clients’ interior designer and bespoke lighting supplier over the various customisations that were needed, and called in their own supplier to design and manufacture a custom recessed lighting solution for the feature timber ceiling of the kitchen and living space. A whole-home 141-circuit C-Bus lighting system was installed, able to integrate the various light fittings requiring a combination of either switched, phase-dimming, DSI, 0-10V or DMX control.
Central to the home is the automation of AV equipment by Control4. This allows one-press start-up and shutdown of all AV services, and the switching of multiple Foxtel sources to all televisions and TV soundbars. There was, however, one request by the homeowners that required Argus Technologies to stray a bit from Control4. The homeowners had a specific request for an improved Spotify experience — one beyond the capabilities of Spotify Connect. For that reason, the team chose Sonos as the home’s distributed audio system.
While this project was fairly straightforward, the biggest challenge came by way of Covid-19, which broke in the project’s early days, requiring Argus Technologies to adjust their timeline, safety plan, and more. Yet the team remarked that this project was “truly a 2020 highlight in what had otherwise been a difficult and often dismal year.”
