BEST INTEGRATED HOME LEVEL III WINNER BOUTIQUE AV

Boutique AV laid the foundation for this project by taking the time to really get to know their clients, who wanted to prioritise five main entertaining spaces: the family and dining room, the barbecue and deck area, a rumpus/bar space, the outdoor living areas, and a dedicated theatre room. This full-of-life couple was driven by the love of their large family and circle of friends and the desire to create a space for all of them to come together under one roof.

Each area required its own careful attention to the AV, lighting, and climate requirements. One key feature is a ‘digital artwork/mural’ (above) which fulfils the role of a centrepiece of the home, a talking point, and a way that the family can communicate their story to their friends and family. Initially it sprang from a desire to remember parents through photos and videos; this then expanded into general family photos and videos, along with content they wanted to share when entertaining, since guests will pass this as they arrive. The wall has 8K horizontal resolution, and Boutique AV sourced 8K landscape video content to act as a screen saver and create a relaxed ambient vibe when the wall is in ‘standby’.

All of this is controlled through a custom touchscreen interface (on iPad and iPhone), also with voice commands, and it turns on when they approach the home and the security system disarms.

Boutique AV also made an effort to keep the noise levels at bay to avoid complaints from neighbours. One way they did this was by designing the front of the house for entertaining instead of the back, due to the proximity of the adjacent houses.

The outside area has a distributed landscape speaker system along with ambient lighting, so the clients can freely entertain until the late hours of the night without provoking complaints.

After the project was completed, the family’s friends began referring to the couple as ‘The Jetsons’! It’s a nickname which they’ve fully embraced.
