Naim Audio takes out our SingleBox Solution of the Year on p93 with its Uniti Atom — now the larger Nova is ready for release as well. Again a single-box design using that spectacular top knob imported from the company’s Mu-so designs, it provides 80 watts per channel of Class A/B amplification, and plenty of source options, with the Uniti Nova again natively supporting Chromecast and Bluetooth (with both aptX and apt HD) to stream music from smartphone or tablet, and also AirPlay, so you can stream music from any iDevice or iTunes. Tidal and Spotify are also integrated, along with the ability to play internet radio, plus it has UPnP so you can connect to a computer or to networkattached storage. You can also play music via USB-connected storage or from an SD-card.

One diŒerentiator over the Atom is that for AV applications the Uniti Nova has an HDMI ARC connector to play audio from your TV, while there are also two analogue inputs, plus digital inputs. Digital file formats supported include WAV, FLAC, DSD, Apple Lossless, AIFF, AAC, Windows Media-formatted files, Ogg Vorbis and MP3. An optional DAB+ tuner module is available for listening to terrestrial digital radio.

The front panel of the Uniti Nova has a 127mm colour LCD display that can show album artwork and content as well as music metadata and system status. Front panel buttons and that lovely top knob give a direct method of controlling the unit. You can also use the supplied remote or the Naim App. RRP is $7250. www.naimau
