- By Sound & Vision

Porsche Design, the lifestyle brand started in

1972 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, today announced the Porsche Design 911 Soundbar Black Edition, which “transforms the exhilaration of Porsche’s 911 GT3 race car into an intense musical experience, delivering crisp mids, powerful bass, and visual-excitement to any space.”

The soundbar, featuring the original rear silencer and tailpipe trim of the 911 GT3, is a special edition of the Porsche Design 911 soundbar Ken Pohlmann wrote about in 2016. Production will be limited to 911 units when the unit ships in October and owners will receive a numbered plaque to certify its limited-edition status. The silencer and tailpipe house the system’s subwoofers that have been meticulously handfinished and powder-coated with a durable-matte black finish.

The soundbar is described as a 2.1 virtual surround sound system featuring 200 watts of power,

Dolby Digital and DTS TruSuround decoding, and Bluetooth/aptX streaming capability. The system has a single analogue input plus coaxial and optical digital inputs.

The 911 Soundbar Black Edition lists for US$4,250, with local pricing to be confirmed.
