LOTS of effort from the community has gone into organising the 2018 AGL Energy Kingaroy Christmas Carnival.

The Kingaroy Christmas Carnival Committee brought in the help of spirit-filled Year 1 students from St John’s to ensure the event is a success.

Committee president Craig Lucas approached the school after coming to a realisation.

“I approached them because we realised we didn’t have a Christmas tree for the carnival,” he said.

“Somehow it didn’t click to us until one of the committee members brought it up. We ended up buying a Christmas tree and we ended up approaching St John’s and their Grade 1 class was wonderful in agreeing to decorate it.”

Mrs Jorgensen is the teacher in charge of the St John’s project.

“Craig asked the principal at the school if the two Year 1 classes would make decorations that they will then donate for the tree at the Christmas carnival,” she said.

“Each student has made two decorations across the two classes and we’ll be taking them down next week to decorate the tree.

“A lot of time has gone into it but I’m sure the families and the people who go to the carnival will all think it’s very worth it.”
