South Burnett Parkinson’s Support Group
THE Parkinson’s year has passed by quickly and on Monday, November 26, it wrapped up with a memorable Christmas party at the Murgon Uniting Church hall.
It was another fun-filled, happy occasion, with 22 people in attendance.
Visitors and invited guests included Delma (Cinnabar), Jean (Woolooga), Neville (Murgon) and Deputy Mayor Kathy.
A hearty two-course meal was served by the ladies from the Murgon Heritage and Dairy Museum. Extras included a refreshing punch and a variety of nibbles. The tables were decorated with mainly green, white, silver and a touch of red in Christmas theme.
Neville stepped in as the entertainer for Tom when Tom was unable to attend. Thank you Neville for your friendliness and enthusiasm. He played a variety of songs on his piano accordion for our enjoyment before lunch was served.
A PD Christmas party always includes lots of prizes and this year there were lucky chairs, lucky numbers and guessing bottles.
Carmen created another original trivia quiz and Deputy Mayor Kathy
was chosen as the official unbiased judge. Kathy was “amazed” by the answers, with the little drummer boy said to reside on Percussion St.
The entertainment continued after lunch with Carmen’s yearly poem and some joke-sharing time (jokes supplied by Merrilyn). The never-before-seen Merry Wonders delighted the audience by singing the Slimmers’ Christmas Carol (Tune: Santa Claus is Coming to
Town). Thanks Merrilyn, Peg and Wanda. There is such untapped talent in our group.
To continue the smiles further, Kathy had each person sing a tune as they collected their Christmas present. Gary’s belated 60th birthday was celebrated and Cynthia presented him with a decorated cake. As there were no matches anywhere to be found, we just pretended the six candles were burning brightly.
After all the excitement of another Christmas party the group is in recess until February 2019 so we can all recover.
Carmen on 5486 1268 and Darryl on 4168 3116 will still be on board to take any inquiries from interested persons.
FESTIVE: Carmen Emery-Strathdee, from South Burnett Parkinson's Support Group, with Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff.
