Mile­stone for project

The Trans­form­ing Bun­bury’s Wa­ter­front project has reached an­other mile­stone with a con­trac­tor locked in for stage two of the project.

Western Aus­tralian com­pany Ad­van­teer­ing Civil En­gi­neers has been awarded the first of two con­tracts to de­liver the $10.8 mil­lion up­grade of the Jetty Road cause­way at Ca­sua­r­ina Boat Har­bour.

Trans­port Min­is­ter Rita Saf­fi­oti was in Bun­bury yes­ter­day to make the an­nounce­ment.

“The cause­way up­grade is a sig­nif­i­cant first step to­wards ad­dress­ing de­mand for lo­cal boat­ing in­fra­struc­ture and ser­vices,” Ms Saf­fi­oti said.

Work is ex­pected to start in early No­vem­ber when about 24,000 tonnes of rock will be brought in for the cause­way.

A com­mu­nity sur­vey on the con­cept plan­ning for stage two – in­clud­ing bet­ter park­ing and land­scap­ing – of the project along Ca­sua­r­ina Drive was also launched yes­ter­day.
