Poorly timed CBD road works

South Western Times - - Point Of View - Ross Slater, Bunbury

The Bunbury City Council appears to be on a different frequency to the real world.

Amid trade downturn and recent parking meter sagas, the council decided to allow half the CBD roads to be blocked off around midday on a recent sunny spring Sunday.

Not content with regularly closing off the City’s limited arteries in an attempt to attract visitors and cluttering Blair Street and Ocean Drive verges with twinkling advertising trailers reminding pet owners that cat and dog registrations are due, somebody, lit up by another bright idea, thought it a grand plan if road and round-a-bout improve- ments were carried out in the main street, on a busy weekend.

It’s difficult enough now for visitors to meander, out of their way to frequent Bunbury’s city centre without suffering confusion and frustration due to incompetence.
