Student heads to Campus Perth

South Western Times - - News - Emily Ace

Manea College graduate Nina Raper will be part of the first intake of students at Campus Perth, a new offering for students requiring accommodation while studying in Perth set to open on January 7.

It will become the first off-campus hub to open in the metro area, located on Stirling Street in the heart of Northbridge.

The hub is designed to be an affordable and all-inclusive living option with communal areas, a coworking space, relaxation lounge, communal kitchen, rooftop terrace and fitness studio.

Miss Raper will be living out of home for the first time next year, as she moves to Perth with hopes of studying a major in visual art and a minor in art history at Edith Cowan University.

The opportunity to move in came after the young artist entered the Cinesnaps Short Film Competition and was offered an accommodation prize by Campus Perth after becoming a finalist.

“I am so grateful and really excited to move in,” she said.

She said the move from the South West to the city was a big transition, made easier because a close friend was also moving to the hub.

Campus Perth appealed to Nina’s mother Andrina Hermann due to the focus on student wellbeing, amenities and central location.

“Campus Perth is good place for Nina to go in her first instance of living away from home,” Ms Hermann said. “It will give her an opportunity to find her feet away from home in a safe environment.”

Campus Perth marketing manager Jasmine Kemp said a focus on student welfare was vital in the development of campus amenities.

“Campus Perth’s events calendar will feature activities to allow residents to get to know each other and the Perth surrounds, given many will be from out of town,” she said.

Campus Perth general manager Bram Newbold said the co-living would be bolstered by a strong retail and commercial offering on the ground floor, featuring a host of prime food and beverage options alongside a grocery store.

“We’re committed to creating a vibrant environment and adding to the established food and cultural scene in Northbridge,” Mr Newbond said. “Interest in Campus Perth has been strong with both domestic and international students and is increasing as Year 12 students receive university offers.”
