USA v WA sprintcar grand final to cap off week of speed
Arguably one of the high points of the 2018-2019 season calendar at the Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway is New Year’s Day, with the Grand Final of the USA v WA Sprintcar Speedweek taking centre stage.
Dating back to 1982 when American Jac Haudenschild claimed the inaugural event in convincing fashion, it has been an anticipated annual event for sprintcar enthusiasts.
With the names of Donny Schatz, Jack Hewitt and the late Jason Johnson engraved on the Speedweek trophy, it is an event which brings the best sprintcar drivers to Bunbury.
This season’s event will be no different, with American trio Harli White, Parker Price-Miller and Mark Dobmeier all ready to compete against WA’s best.
Price-Miller is looking to replicate his success in last year’s series – where he was a joint winner with local Jamie Maiolo.
Incredibly, the two drivers were unable to be separated on points, even with the use of a countback method.
Throw in WA drivers Jason Kendrick, Andrew Priolo and Maiolo’s younger brother Brad, and it will be one event not to be missed.
The USA v WA Speedweek series begins at Perth Motorplex on Boxing Day, with rounds two and three held at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway and Perth Motorplex respectively.
