Entries for the 2019 SWAS Telstra Fun Run are now open, with people encouraged to get in quick to score free race merchandise.

The first 100 to sign up for the fifth annual race around Bunbury’s Leschenault Inlet – on Saturday, March 16 – will receive a complimentary T-shirt. All members of the public are encouraged to enter run (2km, 5km or 10km) or walk (5km).

Cash prizes are up for grabs in each race category and there is a special prize for the school with the most number of entrants. Walking and running enthusiasts are already gearing up for the event, with local race walking champion Cooper Anderton setting his sights on claiming the 5km walk.

South West Academy of Sport chief executive Bernice Butlion said the event was family friendly, with prams and young children welcome.

“We’ve made competing in the fun run affordable so everyone can take part — with an emphasis on having a good experience,” Butlion said.
