Former minister bailed over assault
A FORMER Anglican minister accused of sexually assaulting a man has been bailed with conditions that he not go within 20m of his alleged victim, or 50m of his home or work. Raymond Sydney Cheek (85) was charged with two counts of sexual penetration without consent and indecent assault and will appear at Perth Magistrates Court on September 27. Police prosecutor Tom Dellar said it would be alleged Cheek sexually assaulted his victim, who was in his 20s at the time and known to the alleged offender but not related or a friend, at a Wembley Downs property between October 1, 1998, and May 31, 1999. It will also be alleged Cheek sexually assaulted the same man at a Como property between October 1, 1998, and October 13 that year. A Legal Aid lawyer told the court Cheek required more legal advice.
