The City of South Perth and Town of Vic­to­ria Park have adopted a joint bike path plan that will be im­ple­mented over the next five years.

A JOINT bike plan adopted by the City of South Perth and Town of Vic­to­ria Park is a WA first.

In line with the State Govern­ment’s Perth and Peel@3.5mil­lion, the plan will be im­ple­mented over the next five years, cost­ing $7.3 mil­lion for South Perth and $7.65 mil­lion for Vic­to­ria Park.

South Perth Mayor Sue Do­herty said the plan would pro­vide pos­i­tive im­pacts for the com­mu­nity in terms of health, so­cial, eco­nomic and en­vi­ron­men­tal ben­e­fits, with 13 in­fra­struc­ture projects pro­posed.

Other rec­om­men­da­tions in­clude part­ner­ing with the RAC and De­part­ment of Trans­port on aware­ness cam­paigns and im­prov­ing the col­lec­tion of bi­cy­cle and pedes­trian count data.
