Paid parking error

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

THE Town of Victoria Park says rangers did not fine motorists for overstaying in paid parking bays where a ticketing error appeared to halve the allowable free time to just 15 minutes.

The software programming error was brought to light on Thursday but the council said the timing could have been incorrect for three weeks. A spokeswoman blamed a recent software update and said the council was working with its ticket machine supplier to resolve the issue.

“Some ticket machines are issuing tickets showing a 15-minute time limit instead of 30 minutes, as signposted,” she said. “As long as patrons are complying with all parking restrictions signposted for the area, they will not be infringed despite displaying a ticket which has an error.”

Paid parking areas in Victoria Park include the first 30 minutes free, as long as a ticket is displayed.
