Waste chief to fin­ish up soon

EAST­ERN Met­ro­pol­i­tan Re­gional Coun­cil chief ex­ec­u­tive Peter Sch­nei­der has re­signed but will see out the year in his role.

The coun­cil pro­vides ser­vices in waste man­age­ment, re­source re­cov­ery, en­vi­ron­men­tal man­age­ment and re­gional de­vel­op­ment for the City of Bel­mont and the City of Kala­munda, as well Bayswa­ter, Swan, Bassendean and Mun­dar­ing coun­cils.

Mr Sch­nei­der re­signed on Novem­ber 2 and has given three months no­tice.

He spent nine years at the top af­ter be­ing pro­moted from cor­po­rate ser­vices ex­ec­u­tive man­ager and deputy chief ex­ec­u­tive along the way.

EMRC chair­man David McDonnell said Mr Sch­nei­der had presided over a pe­riod of sig­nif­i­cant growth in core waste man­age­ment ser­vices and the ten­der for the re­source re­cov­ery fa­cil­ity.
