Special anti-theft event

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - news -

“The anti-theft screws are a simple way to reduce this crime and removing opportunities for associated crimes to impact upon community members.”

LETR supports athletes with intellectual disability and will help a small group of athletes to compete at the World Games in Abu Dhabi in March. POLICE officers will be fitting free anti-theft screws for vehicle number plates to support the 2019 Special Olympics World Games WA athletes at Repco Victoria Park on Saturday.

Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) WA volunteers will hold a sausage sizzle and Repco will donate the screws.

Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Newman said he was volunteering at the event as a way to combine crime prevention and community support.

“Stolen number plates can be used by criminals to avoid detection as they commit crimes in the community,” he said.
