Fairy unusual garden fundraiser

Southern Gazette (Victoria Park) - - NEWS -

PEOPLE are encouraged to bring along a fairy statue when they visit the award-winning Romancing the Stone garden in Maida Vale this weekend.

Tom Hogg said Fairyville, built in the Enchanted Woods, was a delight for children, parents and grandparents.

“Fairyville takes us back to a fantasy world,” Mr Hogg said.

“I have built little stone fairy cottages into the side of a hill and people are welcome to bring along a weatherproof fairy and I will situate it in Fairyville for them.”

Mr Hogg said after a very wet winter followed by sunny days, the garden looked splendid.

Mr Hogg has been using his garden to raise money for the Amanda Young Foundation since 2004.

He said the tragedy of the former Penrhos College student’s death to meningococcal spurred him to help fundraise for the cause.

The open garden is on October 6 to 8 from 1`0am to 4.30pm. Romancing the Stone is at 3 Lilian Road, Maida Vale.
