Mini Olympics for the ages
CARLISLE Primary School students and Harold Hawthorne Community Centre senior clients were treated to hours of fun at their Mini Olympics on Tuesday.
As part of Seniors’ Week, 30 seniors and 20 Year 4 students had a games-filled afternoon, including beanbag toss, skittles, ring toss and an egg and spoon race.
Harold Hawthorne Community Centre community engagement coordinator Nani Bartley said the events team tried to pick games that were fun for children and suitable for the senior clients’ mobility.
“We have to think about their mobility; can they stand and hop off their walker and participate or how long will they be there throwing a beanbag?” she said.
Ms Bartley said the centre was definitely interested in ongoing intergenerational events with other age groups from the primary school.
