Hoodoo Gurus in as summer parts
AUSTRALIAN rock favourite Hoodoo Gurus will provide a sizzling end to summer in South Perth with a free concert on the foreshore.
The City of South Perth has confirmed that the ageless wonders will headline the ever-popular annual South Perth Sounds event at Sir James Mitchell Park on Saturday, February 23.
Two weeks later the same venue will be in use for A Day on the Green, with Kylie Minogue supported by Australian indie pop outfit Client Liaison.
Described as one of Australia’s most inventive, lyrically smart and exciting rock ’n’ roll bands and still great live performers, the Hoodoo Gurus have banged out hits for more than three decades including What’s My Scene, Like Wow – Wipeout! and Bittersweet. South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said the event was free, unticketed and a chance for families and friends to see out summer with a picnic together on South Perth Foreshore while enjoying live music and entertainment.
“South Perth Sounds is one of the City’s most popular annual events and with the Hoodoo Gurus headlining next year’s concert, I know we are all in for a treat, ” Mrs Doherty said.
“The City’s events bring our community together to share in a range of experiences that enrich our lives in many ways. I encourage everyone in our community to bring their families and friends along to enjoy a spectacular evening of live music and entertainment in one of Perth’s most picturesque riverside locations.”
The Hoodoo Gurus will continue the tradition of big names to have performed at the City of South Perth’s annual summer concert.
This year the South Perth Fiesta was rebranded as Sound Perth Sounds and residents listened to Perth Symphony Orchestra and WAAPA Gospel Choir featuring Faith and Freedom, the Music of George Michael, as well as enjoying hypnotist Matt Hale.
Thirsty Merc, Lucy Durack and Bjorn Again are others to have starred at the foreshore in the past few years.
Local band Hot Sand will take the stage ahead of Hoodoo Gurus and the foreshore will feature other pre-show entertainment, family activities and gourmet food trucks from 5pm.
