Southern Riverina news - - News -

MANY friends, members and knitters gathered at the Finley Library on Friday to show their appreciation of service and friendship given by retiring librarian Ros Rowe during her time in her position.

She is now looking forward to having some quality time with husband Greg and children Sara and Jonathan.

Following morning tea, a preliminary count was carried out of squares knitted for the charity Wrap With Love.

The result was very pleasing, however, the competition between the four towns in Berrigan Shire does not close until July 31 and it is expected that Finley’s contribution will far exceed last year’s.

So remember, completed squares can still be left at the library until the end of the month.

Finley Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture Inc Annual General Dinner Meeting will be held at the Finley Bowling Club on Wednesday July 13 at 7pm.

Cost is $25 per head. Bookings by today would be much appreciated by calling Sue at Murray Hut Clothing on 5883 1310.

●●● From butcher, to truck driver, to barista – nothing is too much of a challenge for Trevor Sullivan since coming to Finley and taking on the Red Chair two months ago.

Local entertainment consisting of Max Whittaker and Danny Wark on Friday evening proved too much of a temptation for Trevor who exhibited his singing talent acquired while an interstate truck driver.

Max has shown himself to be a man of many talents also with several pieces played being his own compositions, one of which was successful in the Jerilderie Ned Kelly competition.

He has some of his own work on YouTube which can be seen when searching Max Whittaker.

It is hoped that music students from Finley High School will be promoting their skills at the Red Chair in the near future.
