In­tox­i­cated man’s dar­ing high­way walk

PO­LICE were called to Jer­ilderie in re­la­tion to re­ports of an al­legedly in­tox­i­cated man walk­ing into the path of on­com­ing traf­fic on the Newell High­way last week.

Po­lice spoke with a 27 year-old Coleam­bally man in Jer­ilderie St, just af­ter 4.30pm on Tues­day.

Po­lice de­scribed the man as ‘‘very in­tox­i­cated and ver­bally abu­sive’’.

He was ar­rested and taken to the De­niliquin Po­lice sta­tion where he was de­tained un­til Wed- nes­day morn­ing. He was later re­leased and fined for of­fen­sive lan­guage.

●●● The driver of a car that was badly dam­aged af­ter col­lid­ing with a kan­ga­roo in Ba­rooga at the week­end has es­caped se­ri­ous in­jury.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, at 7.30pm the driver was head­ing east on Corowa Rd when a large kan­ga­roo hopped in front of the car hit­ting the bon­net and wind­screen. The car had to be towed.

●●● A 42 year-old Ba­rooga man was charged with drink driv­ing af­ter be­ing stopped by po­lice on Satur­day.

At 6.50pm the man was pulled over on Hughes St in Ba­rooga for a ran­dom breath test.

He was taken to the Tocumwal Po­lice Sta­tion where a breath anal­y­sis al­legedly re­turned a low-range PCA read­ing of 0.062.


A 26 year-old Fin­ley woman was charged with drink driv­ing af­ter fail­ing a ran­dom breath test at the week­end.

At 11.10pm on Fri­day the woman was stopped by po­lice on Tocumwal St, Fin­ley. She was taken to the Fin­ley Po­lice sta­tion where a breath anal­y­sis re­turned a midrange PCA of 0.081.
