Intoxicated man’s daring highway walk
POLICE were called to Jerilderie in relation to reports of an allegedly intoxicated man walking into the path of oncoming traffic on the Newell Highway last week.
Police spoke with a 27 year-old Coleambally man in Jerilderie St, just after 4.30pm on Tuesday.
Police described the man as ‘‘very intoxicated and verbally abusive’’.
He was arrested and taken to the Deniliquin Police station where he was detained until Wed- nesday morning. He was later released and fined for offensive language.
●●● The driver of a car that was badly damaged after colliding with a kangaroo in Barooga at the weekend has escaped serious injury.
According to police, at 7.30pm the driver was heading east on Corowa Rd when a large kangaroo hopped in front of the car hitting the bonnet and windscreen. The car had to be towed.
●●● A 42 year-old Barooga man was charged with drink driving after being stopped by police on Saturday.
At 6.50pm the man was pulled over on Hughes St in Barooga for a random breath test.
He was taken to the Tocumwal Police Station where a breath analysis allegedly returned a low-range PCA reading of 0.062.
A 26 year-old Finley woman was charged with drink driving after failing a random breath test at the weekend.
At 11.10pm on Friday the woman was stopped by police on Tocumwal St, Finley. She was taken to the Finley Police station where a breath analysis returned a midrange PCA of 0.081.
