Berrigan to host PDFL grand final
BERRIGAN will host this year’s Picola District Football League grand final.
In a massive coup for local football and netball, the Saints will host the North West conference decider on Sunday September 11.
The qualifying final is being played at Blighty on Saturday August 20, while Jerilderie is hosting the second semi final on Saturday August 27.
Strathmerton, Yarroweyah and Mathoura are the other finals venues.
Berrigan president Gary Lewis described the announcement as ‘‘a great get’’ for the club.
‘‘It is a great opportunity for us to showcase our facilities and our ability to host a major event.
‘‘It brings a lot of people into the area, potentially we could have representatives from all eight clubs.
‘‘It will be a big day,’’ Lewis said.
Redeyes president Andrew Cochrane said his club was excited to be hosting another final.
‘‘We’re really looking forward to it. It’s a big boost for not just our club, but the community itself.’’
