Hatty hopeful and skep­ti­cal

CHAIR­MAN of the South­ern Rive­rina Ir­ri­ga­tors Ted Hatty said he is both hopeful and skep­ti­cal about the im­pend­ing re­lease of the draft of the Mur­ray Dar­ling Basin Plan. con­sul­ta­tions then the Au­thor­ity should know we will not put up with that.’’

Mr Hatty said he was con­cerned at re­cent com­ments by the Min­is­ter for Sus­tain­abil­ity, En­vi­ron­ment and Wa­ter Tony Burke in re­la­tion to the the South Aus­tralian lower lakes.

Mr Hatty said the guide to the MDBP must ‘‘put all en­vi­ron­men­tal as­sets on the ta­ble’’.

‘‘If we are go­ing to do some­thing then we need to do it right, with less fo­cus on claw­ing back wa­ter and more on in­fra­struc­ture up­grades and ef­fi­ciency.
