Past Players to farewell ‘Yabby’
THE Finley Football Club Past Players are conducting their annual luncheon this Saturday at the clubrooms.
Any past players or supporters of the club are welcome to attend and an enjoyable day is assured.
Catering arrangements require that reservations be finalised on or before Friday by contacting Ashley on 0409 831 228 or Mark on 0459 026 451.
This function has become hugely popular in recent years with the increased participation of female members and it is hoped that this trend will continue.
The event begins at 11.30am and concludes in time for patrons to watch the main senior game.
VFL/AFL premierships coach Allan (Yabby) Jeans was a staunch supporter of the Finley Past Players and will be sadly missed by all. Just a reminder that this coming Friday will see the final count of Finley’s contribution to the ABC ‘Wrap With Love’ squares.
This will take place at the Library at 10am and it would be appreciated if all completed squares could be at the library by that time. Saturday’s Lions Club wood raffle winner was Marj Maxwell. With Census night set for Tuesday August 9, collectors will soon be seen delivering forms to residents in Finley and surrounding areas.
eCensus forms will also be available to be submitted online for those who wish to comply with the regulations in this manner.
Information gained from the Census which
is conducted every five years allows all levels of government to meet community requirements. A demonstration on how to present flowers for show exhibition will be held at 3pm at the Uniting Church Finley on Monday August 1. Winners for Cystic Fibrosis raffle were: first E. Ryan $75 fuel voucher; second Jim Murphy $50 IGA voucher; third Marg White $25 petrol.
John Milne reports that the fundraising is coming along very well with only one more function to be held at the Country Club on Saturday August 13 - Rock & Roll night (raffle that night will be for an outdoor heater).
There will be a dance floor and hopefully a demonstration from some members of the Cobram Rock and Roll group. All welcome! Items for ‘From Finley’ may be submitted by phoning 0428 293 922 or email anne.free[email protected]pond.com or left at the Southern Riverina News office.
