Din­ner to thank Dr Rao

AN ap­pre­ci­a­tion din­ner will be held at the Tocumwal Bowls Club on Septem­ber 30 to hon­our Dr Rao’s ser­vice to the towns peo­ple of Tocumwal.

As well as be­ing on call for 24-hours a day, and al­ways avail­able to of­fer care to the com­mu­nity in his role as coun­try doc­tor, he was a will­ing vol­un­teer in the Lions Club.

He was a char­ter mem­ber of the Tocumwal Lions Club and was awarded The Melvin Jones Fel­low­ship, which is the high­est award for his con­tri­bu­tion and build­ing of The Re­tire­ment Vil­lage.

Dr Rao re­ceived his OAM and went on to plan the Tocumwal Lions Com­mu­nity Hos­tel and play an ac­tive part in its ad­min­is­tra­tion.

Book­ings to at­tend the din­ner may be made at the bar of the

Bowls Club, or by call­ing 5874 2253.

The evening will start at 6.30pm, for a 7pm meal.

●●● The Tocumwal Preschool and broader com­mu­nity said thank you to Cindy O’Cal­laghan with a farewell party at the Golf Club on Thurs­day and the Tocumwal Li­brary park on Fri­day.

Cindy has worked at the preschool for 15 years and will be missed around town.

Best wishes Cindy in your fu­ture en­deav­ours.


Tocumwal Probus have guest speak­ers at their meet­ings, and they also go trav­el­ling around the district to visit places of in­ter­est.

This month Probus stayed home and sam­pled the hos­pi­tal­ity of Jeff and Mar­garet Gowty at Early Set­tler Mo­tel.

From the rave re­views, the Probus mem­bers are keen for a re­turn visit.

●●● With the ar­rival of warm weather ap­proach­ing, the snakes re­turn.

Sa­cred Heart School is ur­gently seek­ing lo­cal res­i­dents who love us­ing their whip­per snip­per to help clean up the western bound­ary of the school play­ground that backs onto the creek.

●●● In­fants Stu­dent of the Week at Tocumwal Pri­mary School was Har­vey White.

The pri­mary Stu­dent of the Week was awarded to Cooper Reid.

Play­ground Award went to Lucinda Bate.

Val­ues Ed­u­ca­tion went to Zar­lie Gow, Jaye Mc­Nair, Sarah Gille­spie, Kade Don­nell and Ni­cholas Spicer.

Math­letes of the Week were Holly Noo­nan and Kane Walsh.

At Sa­cred Heart School, Stu­dent of the Week in the ju­nior room went to Lo­gan Hol­lis­ter and Amy Hol­lis­ter in the se­nior room.

Class awards were given to Percy Dines in the ju­nior room and Jorja Paganoni.

Happy Birth­day this week to Don Davis, Aaron Lawrance, Daniel McIn­tosh and Caro­line Rut­ledge.

Past and present stu­dents were among the many mem­bers of the com­mu­nity who farewelled Cindy O’Cal­laghan in Tocumwal last week.
