Phone bust leads to drug ar­rest

A 38 year-old truck driver from Tum­barumba will ap­pear in Fin­ley Court on Oc­to­ber 27 af­ter be­ing charged with talk­ing on his mo­bile phone while driv­ing, and drug re­lated of­fences.

Po­lice said they spot­ted the driver at 4.10pm on Wed­nes­day in Murray St, Fin­ley.

Po­lice then searched the cabin and al­legedly found a glass smok­ing pipe, a ‘bong’, a brass cone and re­seal­able bag con­tain­ing what is be­lieved to be am­phet­a­mine.

●●● A 39 year-old South Aus­tralian was given a cannabis cau­tion by po­lice on Satur­day af­ter be­ing stopped in Jer­ilderie St, Jer­ilderie.

Po­lice stopped the driver at 1.30pm for a ran­dom breath test (RBT), and al­leged to have smelled cannabis in the car.

In a sub­se­quent search, po­lice al­legedly

un­cov­ered a small amount of cannabis and a pipe.

●●● Be­tween 3pm and 11pm on Sun­day a car parked on the Newell High­way near Wells St, Fin­ley had its tires de­flated. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion should con­tact po­lice.
