School’s high hopes for weighty Mag­pie

THE Fin­ley High Agri­cul­tural team is again rais­ing money for char­ity with the silent auc­tion of their char­ity steer Mag­pie.

Money raised from the auc­tion, will go to ‘Herds of Hope’, a national fundrais­ing ini­tia­tive, cre­ated by mem­bers of the Aus­tralian red meat in­dus­try in sup­port of Ron­ald Mc­Don­ald House Char­i­ties Aus­tralia.

The steer will be auc­tioned on Septem­ber 25 at the ALPA Young Auc­tion­eers Com­pe­ti­tion, at the Mel­bourne Show.

Bids on the jumper will be taken through­out the show and the suc­cess­ful bid­der will be an­nounced at the In­ter­breed show­ing on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 4.

Mag­pie weighed in at 420kgs last week.

Adding to the fundraiser is the auc­tion of a signed Colling­wood jumper or­gan­ised by Year 8 stu­dent Molly Sex­ton, and do­nated by Leigh Brown.

The cur­rent bid for the jumper is $450.
