School’s high hopes for weighty Magpie
THE Finley High Agricultural team is again raising money for charity with the silent auction of their charity steer Magpie.
Money raised from the auction, will go to ‘Herds of Hope’, a national fundraising initiative, created by members of the Australian red meat industry in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.
The steer will be auctioned on September 25 at the ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition, at the Melbourne Show.
Bids on the jumper will be taken throughout the show and the successful bidder will be announced at the Interbreed showing on Tuesday, October 4.
Magpie weighed in at 420kgs last week.
Adding to the fundraiser is the auction of a signed Collingwood jumper organised by Year 8 student Molly Sexton, and donated by Leigh Brown.
The current bid for the jumper is $450.
To make a bid please contact the school 5883 1344, and speak with Gary Webb or Robyn O’Leary.
