Keep­ing kids safe

Fin­ley Pub­lic School will re­ceive a wel­come boost to fund two youth safety ini­tia­tives, thanks to the an­nual NRMA Safer Driv­ing School Road Safety Grant pro­gram.

NRMA Di­rec­tor Gra­ham Blight said Fin­ley Pub­lic School would re­ceive a $1,000 grant for their Safety for Young Pedes­tri­ans pro­gram.

“Stu­dents from Fin­ley Pub­lic School will walk around their lo­cal com­mu­nity, iden­tify road safety fea­tures and cre­ate a song from their ex­pe­ri­ence to per­form for the school assem­bly,” Mr Blight said.

“Road safety book­lets and show bags will also be pro­duced and pre- sented to kinder­garten stu­dents in one-on-one peer sup­port lessons.”

Mr Blight added they will also re­ceive a sec­ond $1,000 grant for their in­ter­ac­tive white­board Pedes­trian Safety pre­sen­ta­tion which will fo­cus on safe be­hav­iours around roads plus pedes­trian and bike safety.

“Ini­tia­tives such as this one en­hance the safety, con­fi­dence and in­de­pen­dence of peo­ple in the lo­cal com­mu­nity and the NRMA is proud to be able to help in a pos­i­tive and mean­ing­ful way.

The NRMA Safer Driv­ing School Road Safety Grant pro­gram is in its 10th year.
