Creating a cow career
Each year Finley High School participates in the Cows Create Careers program, a Dairy Australia project that promotes career opportunities in the industry.
This year was no exception with Finley High coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the awards presentation held in Shepparton.
The program is incorporated across the Year 7 Science and English curriculum over five weeks.
This year, six calves were loaned to the school by Peter and Jane Middlebrook for a three week period.
Students were involved in the daily feeding process on a roster basis and got to know the calves.
Murray Dairy Industry Advocate Troy Mauger spoke to the students at school about the program and how to care for young calves.
