Fin­ley’s rockin’ party

Santa Claus was the man of the mo­ment at the Fin­ley Rockin’ Christ­mas Ex­trav­a­ganza held at the Fin­ley Re­cre­ation Re­serve last Wed­nes­day night.

The jolly man ar­rived in style in a pol­ished vin­tage car and de­lighted chil­dren of all ages tak­ing last minute Christ­mas wishes and hand­ing out sweet treats.

There were lucky gate prizes ga­lore and the Fin­ley Christ­mas light­ing award win­ners were an­nounced to­gether with the tal­ented win­ners of the ‘Christ­mas in Fin­ley’ po­etry com­pe­ti­tion. For more on the event, and all lo­cal win­ners,

The Ber­ri­gan Chil­drens Cen­tre re­cently held a very suc­cess­ful Christ­mas Raf­fle and street stall, and thank ev­ery­one who helped with the stall by do­nat­ing goods or sell­ing and buy­ing raf­fle tick­ets.

The win­ners of the fab­u­lous christ­mas ham­pers were Betty Bur­wood, Ray Eldridge, Ma­ree Ryan and Lochy Stevensen. The Dora scooter was won by Seth Hen­der­son.

The chil­dren and their fam­i­lies also cel­e­brated christ­mas with a visit from Santa (pic­tured) on De­cem­ber 15.

The day also in­cluded the an­nual con­cert and grad­u­a­tion pre­sen­ta­tion.

St. Colum­bas School re­cently held its pre­sen­ta­tion night.

A do­na­tion of $500 was given to the school by Faye Stein from the Bingo Com­mit­tee. The school is ex­tremely grate­ful for a won­der­ful do­na­tion.

Re­li­gion Award - Thomas Whe­lan; Carol Carter Me­mo­rial Tro­phy for Pre­sen­ta­tion of Work - Fraser Haintz; Ber­ri­gan Shire Coun­cil Lead­er­ship Award - Kaitlin Jones; Von­nie Keat­ing All Rounder - Ri­ley Dempster; Se­nior Cit­i­zen Award - An­nie Cameron; Ju­nior Cit­i­zen Award - Naomi Hooper; Quiet Achiever Award - John O’neill and Brooke Hooper.

The staff and School Coun­cil wish ev­ery­one a Merry Christ­mas and a safe New Year.
