Fond farewell for the Raleigh fam­ily

Jer­ilderie Sports Club was the venue for a farewell for Nicki and Kieran Raleigh and their chil­dren Penny, Emily and Michael on Fri­day night.

Friends and work col­leagues gath­ered to thank the Raleighs for their con­tri­bu­tion to the busi­ness, or­gan­i­sa­tions, sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties, school and church, with which they have been in­volved.

Kieran, Nicki and Michael have al­ready hap­pily taken up res­i­dence at their prop­erty near Wan­garatta, with Michael at col­lege in Wan­garatta, Nicki en­rolled in a Fine Arts course at TAFE, and both girls at uni­ver­si­ties in Melbourne.

We wish them all well for the fu­ture.

●●● The World Day of Prayer in Jer­ilderie on Fri­day, March 2, will be held at St Stephen’s Angli­can Church.

The theme for the day is Let Jus­tice Pre­vail. The ser­vice will com­mence at 10am with morn­ing tea to fol­low. All wel­come.

●●● Con­grat­u­la­tions to Reg and Val Bald­win who have a sec­ond great grand­child, and to Peter Bald­win, who is Poppy to a hand­some grand­son, with the ar­rival of Jed Xan­der Szek­eres on Fe­bru­ary 1, a son for Zoe and Xan­der.

Jed weighed 7lb 13oz and was 51cm at birth. The Her­vey Bay side of the fam­ily: Gerry Bald­win, sec­ond time nana, and Mau­reen and Frank Haire — who now have four great grand­chil­dren — are de­lighted with the news.

●●● Af­ter a break of 15 years Richard and Ann Wright are grand­par­ents again, with the ar­rival of Eli­jah James Ritchie, a son for Sarah and Ben, on Fe­bru­ary 10, in Melbourne.

Eli­jah was born at Waver­ley Pri­vate Hospi­tal, and weighed 8lb 2oz. He is the first child for Ben and

Sarah. Con­grat­u­la­tions.

●●● Jer­ilderie Ten­nis Club’s six weeks of Fri­day night ten­nis com­mences this Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 17. If you in­tend to play and haven’t reg­is­tered con­tact Rozzie Ken­nett or David Curtin asap.

●●● More dates for the cal­en­dars are March 8, In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day, and March 19, Se­niors Week.

For In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day there will be a light lun­cheon and a pre­sen­ta­tion on le­gal and fi­nan­cial plan­ning for women.

Se­niors Week will be cel­e­brated with a lun­cheon and short film fes­ti­val. More de­tails as the dates get closer.

●●● The Jer­ilderie Work­ing Dog Auc­tion is gear­ing up for Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 26, at the Race­course.

●●● Happy birth­day to Jenny Bar­low who cel­e­brated her 50th with fam­ily and close friends on Satur­day night, at home.
