Man re­verses into on­com­ing ve­hi­cle

A 28 year-old woman and nine year-old girl were taken to Fin­ley Hospi­tal on Tues­day last week af­ter a car crash in Mur­ray St, Fin­ley.

A 77 year-old Fin­ley man was re­vers­ing a Mit­subishi Magna out of a carpark shortly af­ter 5.30pm.

He al­legedly didn’t see an ap­proach­ing Ford Raider be­ing driven by a 34 year-old Fin­ley man, and reversed into the path of the on­com­ing ve­hi­cle.

The cars col­lided, caus­ing ex­ten­sive dam­age to both.

The woman and child, who were both pas­sen­gers in the Raider, were taken to Fin­ley Hospi­tal by a friend. Both sus­tained bruis­ing from their seat­belts.

The Mit­subishi had to be towed from the scene.

The 77 year-old man was fined for not re­vers­ing with safety.

●●● Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing ma­li­cious dam­age to a ve­hi­cle in Fin­ley St, Fin­ley.

Be­tween 10pm Fri­day and 9am Satur­day, a screw­driver is be­lieved to have been used to punch holes in two tyres on a ve­hi­cle parked in the street.
