Berrigan netball:

Southern Riverina news - - Local Classies -

On yet another warm day the Saints travelled to Yarroweyah for round three of Picola League netball on Saturday.

Berrigan was outdone by most of the Yarroweyah line-ups, only sealing two wins.

Under 13: Berrigan 20 def. Yarroweyah 11. Awards: Sophie, Phoebe and Tahlia.

Under 15: Berrigan 17 lost to Yarroweyah 21. Awards: Chantelle Gorman, Stevi Lee Fuller and Ellie Heazlewood.

C grade: Berrigan 37 def. Yarroweyah 36. Awards: Kim Arnold and Kaila Head.

All the girls played an extremely good game. In a nail-biting last quarter the girls came out winners by one goal.

Kim Arnold and Sam Henderson playing a great game together in the goals, with some wonderful defensive work by Kaila Head and Mel Bauer.

B Grade: Berrigan 37 lost to Yarroweyah 48.

Both sides came out firing in the first term, with goalies spot on at either end and just one goal difference at the break, 11-12 Yarroweyah’s way.

The second quarter saw the demise of the normally composed Berrigan side, not capitalis- ing on possessions and turning the ball over more often than not!

Yarroweyah’s Nicky Knight’s shooting capabilities left the Berrigan defence amazed.

Loretta Mcnamara was strong in defence all day and this would earn her best-on for Berrigan.

In the third and fourth terms, Berrigan put up a good fight and regained some power and managed to convert and apply strong pressure.

Unfortunately the damage had been done, but the Saints did close the gap in the last term to outscore a finely tuned Yarroweyah outfit.

Healy Engineering $20 - Loretta Mcnamara, Foxy’s Backhoe $10 - Jayde Yelland, Berrigan Club Tea - Tegan Nolen.

A Grade: I’m very proud of the girls this week as we have had a few rough rounds. Yarroweyah defeated Mathoura in round two by 16 goals. Berrigan in round one lost to Mathoura by 32 goals.

So to get the results we got this week is great; final scores Yarroweyah 36 to Berrigan 26.

Awards went to Suzanne Falls, Chantelle Henderson, Bianca Mohr and Laura Walliss.
