Ley reveals election plan

Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley (pictured) has been coaxed into revealing her plans for the next election early, after The Nationals indicated it may contest the seat.

The Nationals have flagged a number of country electorates throughout NSW where they may take on the Liberals.

When approached by The Australian on the revelation in April, Ms Ley was reluctant to confirm whether would re-contest.

But with Farrer considered more fertile territory for the Nationals than the coastal seat of Gilmore, she has since made a public decision.

‘‘Given the speculation, I am more than happy to confirm my nomination and intention to re-contest the seat of Farrer - for the Liberal Party,’’ she said.

‘‘Serving this vast and diverse electorate is a great privilege and challenge. With voter ap-

she proval, I look forward to that continuing under a returned Coalition Government, as soon as possible.’’
