Organisers of the inaugural Mother’s Day Classic Walk Run event in Tocumwal on Sunday were thrilled with the success of the event.

More than 200 people enjoyed participating, and supporting the Breast Cancer Research fundraiser.

The event featured many family groups, with at least one family having representatives from four generations walking the 4km route.

Anita Hunter from Luminous biz development said the support was overwhelming.

‘‘We are so pleased with the response from the community who showed their great support for the event.

‘‘Everyone there, whether walking or supporting, appeared to enjoy the experience.

‘‘We’ve had some great feedback.

‘‘Groups like Rotary, the Tocumwal Football Club, Mild to Wild Car Club, the Tocumwal Walking Club and the Tai Chi classes helped by providing many volunteers that made our job so much easier, and the day more enjoyable for those who participated.’’

Ms Hunter also thanked the sponsors of the event.

‘‘Their generosity in covering some of the necessary outlays, means that all of the monies from entry fees and donations has gone to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for its research programs.

‘‘We are already looking forward to hosting the event again in Tocumwal on Mother’s Day in 2013.’’
