Shootout to start tour­na­ment

Fin­ley RS Our An­nual Tour­na­ment this week­end starts with a shootout on Fri­day night.

Any­one wish­ing to see some great bowlers in ac­tion are wel­come to come and watch at the RSC and the Bowl­ing Club greens on Satur­day and Sun­day.

A re­minder to all mem­bers that our AGM is on Sun­day, June 3 at 2pm so please at­tend.

2-4-2 on Tues­day, May 8 was a ditto from the week be­fore with Joyce Thomas and John Reynolds the win­ners and Brian Hawker and Karen Pea­cock r/up. Some­one even matched his wrong bias.

May 15 win­ners were Peter Rus­sell and Ray Wright from Ba­rooga Sports. R/up Ken Bruce and Carmel Sutcliffe; lucky card win­ners Joyce Thomas and John Reynolds.

Bowlers are re­minded that we start at 12.30 now.

Fin­ley BC Last Thurs­day win­ners were Brian An­der­son, Heather Tabe and Al­lan Knight our guest from Jer­ilderie. R/up were Ge­off Trevor­row, Gum­boots Cowan and John Bolitho. 18 bowlers turned up on a won­der­fully sunny day for a great day on the greens.

Please note bowlers that from next Thurs­day our DFP game of bowls will be ex­actly that - a draw for part­ner game so please put your names down as in­di­vid­u­als and not teams.

On Sun­day the Fin­ley Bowlo of­fi­cially wel­comed our new­est bowler to the fold, Colleen Squires, and what a wel­come it was.

She teamed up with Billy Smith in round one of the Ac­cu­mu­la­tor event and came out on top! 36 bowlers in all turned out and the weather was good.

Please note bowlers that next Sun­day there will be no Ac­cu­mu­la­tor event due to our greens be­ing used by bowlers from the Fin­ley RS club. Round two will be held the fol­low­ing week on June 3.

Wel­come back to Elaine Chap­lin and look out bowlers she has that new arm go­ing well.

To­day (May 23) we are hold­ing our an­nual ‘‘Australia’s Big­gest Morn­ing Tea’’ start­ing at 12.30pm with a trad­ing ta­ble to be fol­lowed at 1pm by cards.

Af­ter cards will be a cuppa fol­lowed by an auc­tion where we will sell off any un­sold items from the trad­ing ta­ble.

Please come and sup­port this event. All money goes to the Can­cer Coun­cil. The club will be open from 9.30am for all do­na­tions to the trad­ing ta­ble.

We will also be hav­ing a pro­gres­sive raf­fle on the day.

If you don’t want to play cards, please come any­way and join us for af­ter­noon tea. Gold coin do­na­tion, so please come and sup­port this wor­thy cause.

A new raf­fle ros­ter is on the board, please check to see when its your turn. This week is Lau­rie Walsh and Ste­vie Beck.

This Fri­day night is the Fin­ley Foot­ball and Net­ball Club fundraiser din­ner and raf­fles night at the bowlo.

The raf­fle draw starts at 7.30pm sharp so get there early. Carvery meals from 6pm, roast beef and pork served with fresh roast ve­g­ies for only $15 with kids un­der 15 only $10.

Also avail­able will be hot roast roll with chips for $10, or nuggets and chips for $6. Sweets for only $3 will be mixed berry cheese­cake or ba­nana cake with whipped cream or ice cream with choco­late or straw­berry top­ping.

Tocumwal Thurs­day saw bowlers play two bowl Pairs/ Triples un­der beau­ti­ful blue skies and a warm day.

Win­ners on the day were Alan Seamer who teamed with Bob Whit­taker to take 1st Prize; R/up went to Mick Smith who teamed up with An­drea Brown; Best last game went to David White­side who teamed up with vis­i­tors Pam and Keith Mar­ney.

Sun­day saw the Agm/pre­sen­ta­tion day for the bowl­ing side of the club.

Tro­phies for club cham­pi­onships were pre­sented to win­ners and run­ners-up.

Mon­day In­door bowls saw 16 play­ers take to the mats to play 2 games x 10 ends.

All four teams had one win and one loss for the day with three teams fin­ish­ing on +20 points.

The win­ning team com­pris­ing Noel Carter, Mavis Young, Dorothy Maran­telli and Peter Dy­hin won the day even though they had a dis­as­trous last game. They won with +21 points.

On the Cham­pi­onship side of In­door Bowls, Tocumwal has tasted some suc­cess over the past few weeks.

Joan Holmes was the r/up at the As­so­ci­a­tion In­door Bowls Com­pe­ti­tion held at the Ba­rooga Scout Hall, while the team of Ken de Grey, Heidi Klime, Noel Carter and Norma Mcquil­lan took out the As­so­ci­a­tion In­door Bowls Fours Ti­tle held at Ba­rooga last Fri­day.

Re­minder to all mem­bers that this week’s Mem­ber Jack­pot is $625 - you must be present to win.

As well as the usual end of the month meat trays and vegie packs to be won on the night, come and be en­ter­tained by the very tal­ented Cal­lum Glee­son.
