Shootout to start tournament
Finley RS Our Annual Tournament this weekend starts with a shootout on Friday night.
Anyone wishing to see some great bowlers in action are welcome to come and watch at the RSC and the Bowling Club greens on Saturday and Sunday.
A reminder to all members that our AGM is on Sunday, June 3 at 2pm so please attend.
2-4-2 on Tuesday, May 8 was a ditto from the week before with Joyce Thomas and John Reynolds the winners and Brian Hawker and Karen Peacock r/up. Someone even matched his wrong bias.
May 15 winners were Peter Russell and Ray Wright from Barooga Sports. R/up Ken Bruce and Carmel Sutcliffe; lucky card winners Joyce Thomas and John Reynolds.
Bowlers are reminded that we start at 12.30 now.
Finley BC Last Thursday winners were Brian Anderson, Heather Tabe and Allan Knight our guest from Jerilderie. R/up were Geoff Trevorrow, Gumboots Cowan and John Bolitho. 18 bowlers turned up on a wonderfully sunny day for a great day on the greens.
Please note bowlers that from next Thursday our DFP game of bowls will be exactly that - a draw for partner game so please put your names down as individuals and not teams.
On Sunday the Finley Bowlo officially welcomed our newest bowler to the fold, Colleen Squires, and what a welcome it was.
She teamed up with Billy Smith in round one of the Accumulator event and came out on top! 36 bowlers in all turned out and the weather was good.
Please note bowlers that next Sunday there will be no Accumulator event due to our greens being used by bowlers from the Finley RS club. Round two will be held the following week on June 3.
Welcome back to Elaine Chaplin and look out bowlers she has that new arm going well.
Today (May 23) we are holding our annual ‘‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’’ starting at 12.30pm with a trading table to be followed at 1pm by cards.
After cards will be a cuppa followed by an auction where we will sell off any unsold items from the trading table.
Please come and support this event. All money goes to the Cancer Council. The club will be open from 9.30am for all donations to the trading table.
We will also be having a progressive raffle on the day.
If you don’t want to play cards, please come anyway and join us for afternoon tea. Gold coin donation, so please come and support this worthy cause.
A new raffle roster is on the board, please check to see when its your turn. This week is Laurie Walsh and Stevie Beck.
This Friday night is the Finley Football and Netball Club fundraiser dinner and raffles night at the bowlo.
The raffle draw starts at 7.30pm sharp so get there early. Carvery meals from 6pm, roast beef and pork served with fresh roast vegies for only $15 with kids under 15 only $10.
Also available will be hot roast roll with chips for $10, or nuggets and chips for $6. Sweets for only $3 will be mixed berry cheesecake or banana cake with whipped cream or ice cream with chocolate or strawberry topping.
Tocumwal Thursday saw bowlers play two bowl Pairs/ Triples under beautiful blue skies and a warm day.
Winners on the day were Alan Seamer who teamed with Bob Whittaker to take 1st Prize; R/up went to Mick Smith who teamed up with Andrea Brown; Best last game went to David Whiteside who teamed up with visitors Pam and Keith Marney.
Sunday saw the Agm/presentation day for the bowling side of the club.

Monday Indoor bowls saw 16 players take to the mats to play 2 games x 10 ends.
All four teams had one win and one loss for the day with three teams finishing on +20 points.
The winning team comprising Noel Carter, Mavis Young, Dorothy Marantelli and Peter Dyhin won the day even though they had a disastrous last game. They won with +21 points.
On the Championship side of Indoor Bowls, Tocumwal has tasted some success over the past few weeks.
Joan Holmes was the r/up at the Association Indoor Bowls Competition held at the Barooga Scout Hall, while the team of Ken de Grey, Heidi Klime, Noel Carter and Norma Mcquillan took out the Association Indoor Bowls Fours Title held at Barooga last Friday.
Reminder to all members that this week’s Member Jackpot is $625 - you must be present to win.
