Community invited to Hoofs2010 Sanctuary

Hoofs2010 Inc Brumby Sanctuary - the newest addition to the Berrigan community - is set to launch with an exciting open day.

An open day on June 10 will start at 11am with a ceremony.

Hoofs2010 Inc has been brought to the community by Lynette Sutton and her partner John.

During the open day the Lions Club will be serving refreshments, there will be entertainment, a chance to meet the brumbies, and face painting for the kids.

Bring a rug or chair and enjoy a day in the paddock to hear some great singers and poets.

Entry to the open day is a gold coin with profits going to the resident brumbies and future rescues.

It was Lynne’s daughter Steph who brought to her mum’s attention the plight of Australia’s brumby, often labelled a ‘feral’ horse.

A practical and reasonable woman, Lynne passionately vies for the rights of brumbies to have a place in Australia - be it domestic, pleasure or otherwise.

She has rescued many horses from a less honorable end, running responsible and legal adoption, sponsorship and a sanctuary for those yet to find a meaningful home.

These horses are not bred but saved, handled compassionately and homed to a diverse range of people and purposes.

Lynne’s formation of Hoofs2010 (Help Our Old Friends) is a bless- ing to Berrigan, not only in returning its status as a horsing community, but it has gained attention of many public figures and organisations.

Ever smiling and energised, Lynne’s dream of the sanctuary has already brought many many visitors who utilise and discover the charm of all Berrigan has on offer.

Donations and the work of Hoofs2010 committee and branches are tireless to see the brumby treated with something more than extermination.

This sanctuary is an opportunity for Berrigan to gain a new tourism venture while doing what Berrigan does best - ‘helping out a mate in hard times’.
