Adventure from Finley to Nigeria
Next Sunday, July 8, at the Berrigan Uniting Church, Kent and Ruth Hodge will give an overview of their work in the Christian Faith Institute in Jos, Nigeria.
There has been considerable unrest in that part of Africa, with Muslim and pagan mobs attacking Christians and burning down their churches and houses.
Many will remember Ruth Hodge (nee Todd) who lived in Finley in her teen years and attended Finley High School.
All are welcome to attend the 11am service in Wesley Church and stay for lunch afterwards.
●●● Berrigan Red Cross Shop is having a $1 sale on children’s wear.
The Shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturday from 10am to noon. It will finish on July 14.

●●● The Berrigan district was saddened to learn of the passing of Mary Powell last week.
Mary’s family were at the Berrigan Newsagents for some 34 years, during which time Mary worked in the shop with her mother - the late Mrs Mary Powell - for a number of years.
In 1966, Mary moved to Albury were she had a position with the Murray River County Council, during which time she studied accountancy at night school and graduated as a chartered accountant.
She was then employed by the firm later known as KPMG, and became recognised as very talented in this field.
She retired in 1993 and was recognised in the Border Mail as one of the pioneer women to be employed in the professional field.
Mary will be laid to rest on Friday after a requiem mass, at 11am at St. Columbas Catholic Church Berrigan.
Her parents Jack and Mary Powell and brothers Des and Maurice all pre-deceased her, and sympathy is extended to her sister-in-law Tess, her niece Trisha and her nephews Michael and John. Also to her cousins Bernard and Mary Curtin, and Margaret and Ian Roberts of Cootamundra.
●●● On Saturday, July 14 there will be an eighties party at the Berrigan Sportsground clubrooms, after the Berrigan vs Blighty game.
The night will start at 7.30pm.
Tickets available at the door, for $10 per person or $15 if not in costume.

●●● Berrigan CWA members will meet for the craft/planning meeting at the CWA Rooms at 2pm on Monday, July 9.
The ladies will continue to sharpen their crocheting skills.
Guest Speaker will be Angela Peris who will share information on health and wellness.
Anyone interested in learning to crochet or listening to Angela are welcome to come along.
