Merc. fire in Finley
A Mercedes sedan had to be towed in Finley last Thursday night after it caught on fire.
Police and fire crews were called to the incident, described as a small engine fire, about 7.50pm, at the Newell Hwy and Osborne St intersection.
The driver told police the car’s lights began to dim as it travelled north along the highway.
On investigation, a small fire was discovered in the engine bay of the vehicle.
There was minimal damage, but the car had to be towed.
●●● A 19 year-old Finley man is expected to appear in court on drink driving charges, after being arrested on Sunday.
Police stopped a car being driven near the intersection of Hamilton St and Brookmans Rd at 1.19am on Sunday and subjected the male driver to a roadside breath test.
After allegedly returning a positive reading, he was taken to Finley Police Station, where a blood alcohol reading of 0.118 was recorded.
The driver was charged with mid-range prescribed content of alcohol.
