Paul chosen as Lions leader
The Jerilderie Lions Club held its 35th changeover dinner last Monday, with guests from Finley and Berrigan Lions clubs joining Jerilderie Lions and invited guests for the occasion.
Special guests were retiring Zone Chairman Omen Ndlovu, and Zone Chairman elect Brian Hill.
Cr Laurie Henery, representing the Jerilderie Shire, proposed the Toast to Lions International.
The local constabulary was represented by Tania and Shannon Bradford, with Tania giving a brief overview of their arrival and time in Jerilderie.
New Lions member Terry Stephens was inducted by incoming Mr Hill.
The Jerilderie executive members for 2012/13 is president Paul Ryan, secretary Richard Wright and treasurer Mal Campbell.
●●● Jerilderie Lions will be hosting the junior public speaking competition on Monday, July 23 at the Royal Mail Hotel.
There will be six chil- dren representing each school.
Year 3 and 4 students will be asked to speak to the topic ‘The best book I have read’.
Year 5 and 6 students will be asked to give a eulogy for a great leader from the past.
●●● Don’t forget the Princess Linen Party and Body Shop presentation, to be held on Monday, July 23.
It is being held to raise funds for the Albury Wodonga Accommodation Centre.
Everyone is invited to the Community Centre at 10am, and to bring a plate to share for morning tea.

●●● The Jerilderie library has been a hive of activity throughout the school holidays.
A fun day was held recently, and there have been many children coming and going during opening hours.
●●● In other library news, an ongoing exhibition in the Banksia Room, courtesy of Beth McMeekin from Ye Olde Bank of NSW, is an opportunity to view elegant, quirky and fun items from a slower-paced era.
It is called ‘Tea for Two’, and the exhibition will continue during library opening hours until August.
●●● The library looks very homey and comfortable with all the beautiful knitted blankets for Wraps With Love displayed around the area.
New large print books are now available, and are always being updated.
You are reminded of the trial changes in opening hours at the library.
On Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays it is open from 10am to 5pm, including during the lunch hour.
On Wednesday the new opening hours are 2pm to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to noon.
