Presidents outplay Captains
Finley Saturday, July 14 was the annual Presidents versus Captains day. The event was a team’s day plus individual Stableford.
The winning team consisted of R Harris, H Daniel, I Daniel and K White with 152pts. The mens A grade winner was C McNamara 40pts.
B grade winner was D Wastle 44pts. Ladies winner was T Bell 37pts.
Balls went to P Pinnuck, J Braybon, R Makkinga, N Purtill, I Daniel, B O’Connell, R Harris and B Fahey.
The Presidents’ team had 446pts and the Captains’ 434pts.
Sunday saw a stableford event with the mens winner being B Fahey with 35pts and ladies winner A Waters on 36 pts.

Finley Ladies On Wednesday, in some chilly winter conditions, Finley Lady golfers took to the course.
The ladies participated in a Par Event which was sponsored by the Kidz Shak.
The winner for the day was Margot Robertson (22), one down.
NTP was Gwen Walsh. Ball winners were Gwen Walsh (25), three down and Kaye Callaghan (22), five down.
Berrigan On Friday, R Barnett was the winner of the weekly event with 381⁄ - 111⁄
R/up on the day was P Riley who finished with 39 - 111⁄
R Harper won both the putting with 12 and the ball competition with 391⁄
On Saturday, D Graham was the winner with 34 - 11, ahead of r/up P Riley who finished with 35 - 11.
The putting was won by P Hunt on 13 and the ball competition winner was J Nicholls on 37.
Sunday’s event saw J Walliss the eventual winner with 37 - 18, with R Harper the r/up on 33 - 30.
Ball competition win- ners were J Stein 31, H Kofoed 30 cb and P Riley 30 cb.
Berrigan Ladies On Wednesday, July 4 Berrigan lady golfers took to the course to play in the stroke event.
The winner on the day was P Hunt with 98-25-73 ahead of r/up A Schweicker on 75 nett.
Putting was won by W Fossey.
The best first nine score was won by J Coldwell while the lucky dip winner was V Sedgwick.
On Wednesday, July 11 the lady golfers took part in a stableford event which saw J Coldwell finish the winner with 38pts. The r/up on the day was V Chisholm on 31pts.
The best first nine points was won by W Fossey, while J Graham won the lucky dip.
Jerilderie’s A grade netballers had a tough game against fifth place Yarroweyah in round 13 of the Picola Netball League.
After an even first half, Tanya Rorato was moved back to GS and shot 24 goals in the second half.
With the defenders keeping the opposition to 17 goals, Jerilderie won the game 47 to 37.
Keshia Strano was welcomed back into the C position and Elise Watson and Tia Williams were an integral part of the victory.
B Grade were always in for a tough game against very accurate shooters and ended up going down 34 to 47.
Sarah Crain played another great game at WD, hunting anything high, and Brooke Sanderson also played a strong defensive game in the ring.
C Grade pulled out the win of the day, defeating the Hoppers 40 to 29.
Katrina Muto at GS was too strong, shooting 28 goals for the day. Kat Creek was brilliant at WD, attacking and defending, while Tanya Bradford had fantastic three feet all day.
C reserve had the ladder leaders nervous in a great battle, but the Demons went down 23 to 19.
Rhiannon Roe was the best shooter with 15 goals, and with the versatility of Tash Nash, the girls nearly took the game. Thanks to the under-17 girls Sally Sweeney, Charlotte Close and Isabella Westwood for playing.
The under-15 girls let a winnable game slip by, with the final score 17 to 20.
Scores were even at half time, but a poor third quarter gave the Hoppers a three goal lead, which they held till the final whistle. Better players were Zoe Holcombe and Phoebe Watson.
Jerilderie’s under-13 girls are playing very mature netball - the way they move the ball up and down the court is fantastic.
In another one sided game, 26 to 7, Isabella Catena was strong at GS with 17 goals.
The under-11 girls had a great game. With only seven players, all girls had full court time and they relished it.
