Pres­i­dents out­play Cap­tains

Fin­ley Satur­day, July 14 was the an­nual Pres­i­dents ver­sus Cap­tains day. The event was a team’s day plus in­di­vid­ual Stable­ford.

The win­ning team con­sisted of R Har­ris, H Daniel, I Daniel and K White with 152pts. The mens A grade win­ner was C McNa­mara 40pts.

B grade win­ner was D Was­tle 44pts. Ladies win­ner was T Bell 37pts.

Balls went to P Pin­nuck, J Bray­bon, R Makkinga, N Pur­till, I Daniel, B O’Connell, R Har­ris and B Fa­hey.

The Pres­i­dents’ team had 446pts and the Cap­tains’ 434pts.

Sun­day saw a stable­ford event with the mens win­ner be­ing B Fa­hey with 35pts and ladies win­ner A Wa­ters on 36 pts.

NTP: L McNa­mara. Balls R Har­ris, R McCul­lough, T Price and B Shaw.

Fin­ley Ladies On Wed­nes­day, in some chilly win­ter con­di­tions, Fin­ley Lady golfers took to the course.

The ladies par­tic­i­pated in a Par Event which was spon­sored by the Kidz Shak.

The win­ner for the day was Mar­got Robert­son (22), one down.

NTP was Gwen Walsh. Ball win­ners were Gwen Walsh (25), three down and Kaye Cal­laghan (22), five down.

Ber­ri­gan On Fri­day, R Bar­nett was the win­ner of the weekly event with 381⁄ - 111⁄

R/up on the day was P Ri­ley who fin­ished with 39 - 111⁄

R Harper won both the putting with 12 and the ball com­pe­ti­tion with 391⁄

On Satur­day, D Gra­ham was the win­ner with 34 - 11, ahead of r/up P Ri­ley who fin­ished with 35 - 11.

The putting was won by P Hunt on 13 and the ball com­pe­ti­tion win­ner was J Ni­cholls on 37.

Sun­day’s event saw J Wal­liss the even­tual win­ner with 37 - 18, with R Harper the r/up on 33 - 30.

Ball com­pe­ti­tion win- ners were J Stein 31, H Ko­foed 30 cb and P Ri­ley 30 cb.

Ber­ri­gan Ladies On Wed­nes­day, July 4 Ber­ri­gan lady golfers took to the course to play in the stroke event.

The win­ner on the day was P Hunt with 98-25-73 ahead of r/up A Sch­we­icker on 75 nett.

Putting was won by W Fossey.

The best first nine score was won by J Coldwell while the lucky dip win­ner was V Sedg­wick.

On Wed­nes­day, July 11 the lady golfers took part in a stable­ford event which saw J Coldwell fin­ish the win­ner with 38pts. The r/up on the day was V Chisholm on 31pts.

The best first nine points was won by W Fossey, while J Gra­ham won the lucky dip.

Jer­ilderie’s A grade net­ballers had a tough game against fifth place Yar­roweyah in round 13 of the Pi­cola Net­ball League.

Af­ter an even first half, Tanya Ro­rato was moved back to GS and shot 24 goals in the sec­ond half.

With the de­fend­ers keep­ing the op­po­si­tion to 17 goals, Jer­ilderie won the game 47 to 37.

Keshia Strano was wel­comed back into the C po­si­tion and Elise Wat­son and Tia Wil­liams were an in­te­gral part of the vic­tory.

B Grade were al­ways in for a tough game against very ac­cu­rate shoot­ers and ended up go­ing down 34 to 47.

Sarah Crain played an­other great game at WD, hunt­ing any­thing high, and Brooke San­der­son also played a strong de­fen­sive game in the ring.

C Grade pulled out the win of the day, de­feat­ing the Hop­pers 40 to 29.

Ka­t­rina Muto at GS was too strong, shoot­ing 28 goals for the day. Kat Creek was bril­liant at WD, at­tack­ing and de­fend­ing, while Tanya Brad­ford had fan­tas­tic three feet all day.

C re­serve had the lad­der lead­ers ner­vous in a great bat­tle, but the Demons went down 23 to 19.

Rhi­an­non Roe was the best shooter with 15 goals, and with the ver­sa­til­ity of Tash Nash, the girls nearly took the game. Thanks to the un­der-17 girls Sally Sweeney, Char­lotte Close and Is­abella West­wood for play­ing.

The un­der-15 girls let a winnable game slip by, with the fi­nal score 17 to 20.

Scores were even at half time, but a poor third quar­ter gave the Hop­pers a three goal lead, which they held till the fi­nal whis­tle. Bet­ter play­ers were Zoe Hol­combe and Phoebe Wat­son.

Jer­ilderie’s un­der-13 girls are play­ing very ma­ture net­ball - the way they move the ball up and down the court is fan­tas­tic.

In an­other one sided game, 26 to 7, Is­abella Catena was strong at GS with 17 goals.

The un­der-11 girls had a great game. With only seven play­ers, all girls had full court time and they rel­ished it.

This week­end is Mini’s Day. Come over to the courts at 10.30am to watch the girls in ac­tion.
